Creating safe, affordable housing and healthy communities

HOME OWNERSHIP PROGRAM

We help income-qualified home buyers in Corvallis secure down payment and closing cost assistance through the City of Corvallis First Time Home Buyer Program and other programs offered by our lenders. We also refer eligible households to lenders that offer below-market interest rate loans financed by the Oregon Housing and Community Services Department. In addition, we provide low-interest second mortgages to buyers of homes sold by Willamette Neighborhood Housing Services.

Our Home Buyer Education Program offers a comprehensive educational package for anyone who wants to learn more about how to successfully buy a home.

The Financial Fitness Program helps participants gain knowledge and confidence about money-related matters such as budgeting, saving, and credit.

The Valley Individual Development Account Program (VIDA) helps lower income families purchase a home or start up a small business by matching their savings.

If you need help with credit issues and buying a house, our Housing Counseling Services may be able to help.

A SUCCESS STORY
Julie Wilborn-Pilotte
& Karl Pilotte

Karl Pilotte took the Homebuyer Education class before he married Julie, so when the time came to buy a house for his new family, he was ready. The couple had saved a small amount for a down payment. However, the quality of home they could have purchased without assistance would have been far less than what they eventually bought.

"We made just enough to make the house payments, but our income was low enough that we qualified for everything," says Julie. In the end, they purchased a newly constructed house on a prime piece of property in the Good Neighbor subdivision. "There aren’t any catches," she says. "This is a total ‘you benefit’ situation!"
